HDLA Distance Learning Plan San Diego County has declared a local and public health emergency in response to COVID-19, the illness caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus. It is important for our community to be vigilant in preventing the spread of communicable illness.
Holly Drive Leadership Academy School and office is closed. Classes will be moving online. Distance Learning is new for all of us and we are all learners in this process. Many educators may be entering into new learning as we shift to teaching students in an online setting. Please be patient. These are unprecedented times which require us to be innovative, and we appreciate your patience as we all rise to meet new challenges together. Academic instruction will formally resume in April as part of the Holly Drive Leadership Academy’s Distance Learning Plan.

Equitable access to technology
HDLA will collect data from families via a technology survey on our website, emails and phone calls in order to identify families in need of Internet access and/or a keyboard-enabled device. HDLA will distribute HDLA owned Chrome books and laptops to families without a computer in the home. Families will be asked to sign the computers out and are expected to return the computers on June 5, 2020 to Holly Drive Leadership Academy campus. Special Education Support
Individual Distance Learning Plans (IDLPs) will be created to ensure that all students with special needs receive services to the greatest extent possible while participating in distance learning. Case managers will conduct weekly check ins with each of their students and every two to three weeks the Individual Distance Learning Plans will be reviewed and updated as appropriate. Ed specialists and related service providers will work collaboratively with general education teachers to provide support and accommodations needed for each student to meet current IEP goals and have support to access the online curriculum.
Distance Learning Plan
At the core of our Distance Learning plan is connectedness, academic growth, routine, equity, emotional health and happiness. Teachers will have an opportunity for students to meet two to three times a week via online classes on Zoom to provide whole language instruction. Attendance will be taken in order to provide wellness checks and to help us respond to any needs or challenges a family could be facing. Assignments are placed on California i-Ready and Achieve3000 for grading purposes. This plan will include a blend of screen time and off screen time learning. Additionally, students can receive extra credit points for completing assignments in Math-Whizz and Happy Numbers. Below is our Teacher led Online Instruction schedule. These sessions are taught by the classroom teacher on Zoom.
